Anatomy of the Scrotum
The scrotum has 4 layers. The outermost is the skin, with a large number of sweat glands. Below the skin is a muscle, the tunica dartos, that can constrict and squeeze the testes closer to the body wall. Each testis is then located within its own compartment formed by the parietal and visceral vaginal tunics. The core of the testis is called testicular parenchyma and we will diagram its components latter. Portions of the penis are also shown below but will be covered latter as well.
