Glans Penis
The glans penis is the termination of the corpus spongiosum. As the penis becomes erect, it will extend out past the preputial fold of the prepuce (forskin). During the latter parts of erection, the glans penis will increase from 300 to 400% in diameter. The urethra extends past the glans penis in the urethral process. The area around the urethral process forms the urethral sinuses that need to be cleaned to keep beads of smegma from accumulating. In a stallion whose penis is frequently washed for semen collection, this will not be a problem.
