Post-thaw Evaluation of Frozen Semen
- Evaluate 1 straw for each freezing run per stallion
- Evaluate motility when incubated at 37-39°C for 10 and 30 minutes after thawing
- If there is some concern about semen quality, thaw another straw.
- Discard any ejaculate with poor motility post-thaw
( should be >30% at 10 minutes after thawing) - If purchasing frozen semen, some expectation of post-thaw motility should be provided by seller.
