| Fixation of the embryo at day 16-17 is accompanied by an increase in uterine tone (tension in the uterine musculature), thickening of the uterine wall and rapid increase in embryonic growth. Fixation usually occurs in the uterine horn that was non-gravid in the last pregnancy. |  |
