Uterus

F. Examine the uterine horn that you have cut open. You may cut further than show in the image if you wish.

The uterus is comprised of the uterine body and two uterine horns. The implantation anatomy and physiology is not the same as in the cow. In the cow, bumps on the uterine lining called carnucles are the site of placental attachment to the mother. However these structures are not present in the pig as the placenta simply lies alongside the uterine wall.
