Spermatic Chord

spermatic chord end
In this image you can see the cut edge of the spermatic chord. The blood vessels coming and going to the pampinform plexus are vissible. You can also see the vas deferens and the external cremaster muscle. The vas deferens is carrying sperm to be ejacualated. The external cremaster muscle can contract or relax to move the testes closer or farther away from the body wall. This muscle is mostly used for fight or flight when the testes needs to be held closer to the body wall. It can play a role in temperature regulation of the testes, but that role of a muscle is primarily due to the tunica dartos.
