Cows for AS/DS 434 are generally cull dairy cattle. For the facilities we have and the lack of student experience giving IM injections, we recommend the following 2 sites. This minimizes the chance for student injury. The best site for such injections however is in the neck. What follows are videos taken by Dr. Parrish of students giving injections in the 2 sites suggested. You will simulate this activity in lab with the practice equipment we have.
Site 1 - The semitendinosus/semimebranosus muscles (video 780p; video 480p)
Site 2 - The rump between the sacrum, ilium and ischium (video 780p; video 480p)
