You might have a pregnant cow or sow tract in class. If so, you may wish to determine how old are the fetus or fetuses. One standard measure used to estimate fetal age is the crown-rump length.  On the diagram below a straight line indicates the measurement of crown-rump length.

This type of measurement can be made in any animal but the conversion of the crown-rump length to fetal age is species or even sometimes breed specific. Measure a fetus if available in lab and determine the fetal age.
