Full-time staff (refers to full time animal care worker) are required to:
- Change their clothes and wear clothing provided for them by the department
- They must also wear designated footwear
- You are not allowed to take department clothing or footwear items home
- The department is providing a laundry service to cover this requirement
Student hourly workers are required to:
- to do the same as above for clothing and footwear change, however they must launder the departmentally owned clothes they wear at the LIVESTOCK LAB.
- students who will be working with palpation or lambing are required to wear plastic booties and coveralls or lab coast over their clothes
Faculty, staff, graduate students, etc that are working directly with the animals (feeding, taking blood samples, body weights, etc.) must:
- wear coveralls and designated footwear or plastic booties while working with the animals -- EXCEPT in the small animal rooms in the basement- you must wear a clean lab coat over personal clothing
Walk through visits (where you will not be working directly with animals) still require:
- plastic shoe covers
- hand washing afterwards
Those who work on Campus:
- There are a fair number or coverall's at the Livestock Lab for your use or you can provide your own
- Laundry facilities are available at the Livestock Lab
- Laundry will be completed Once a week by student workers.
Arlington and other farm stations you are required to:
- wear coveralls
- EXCEPT-the swine unit-- rules are the same there as always
Other information
- The Livestock Lab has a number of coveralls for your use
- The laundry service will launder extra coveralls, etc but at an additional cost
- Talk to your unit manager to see if coveralls are available, and how to handle the dirty laundry.
