All classes feature on-line web lecture/lab material so that on-campus time can be devoted to hands-on experience with UW horses or in laboratory. Certificate in Reproductive Management of the Mare or Stallion will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the course. Individual instruction available.

Prerequisite: None, open to anyone
Objective: Targeted to horse owners, breeding farm personnel, veterinarians, vet techs, graduate students, high school students and others interested in managing the brood mare. Topics include: hormonal control of the estrous cycle, breeding mares with artificial insemination, understand the detection of pregnancy, management of the pregnant mare, preparation for foaling and the management of the newborn foal. Earn 1 University credit for this course.

Objective: This is a new course targeted to horse owners, breeding farm personnel, veterinarians, vet techs, graduate students, high school students and others interested in managing stallions to maximize reproductive efficiency. Learn how to collect semen from a stallion and process semen for fresh or cooled-transported artificial insemination. Earn 1 University credit for this course.
